At the top of the database, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, whose annual compensation is some $9 million, up $2 million from the 2015 season. In contrast, New Mexico State’s Doug Martin — last at No. 119 on the list — has a total pay package of about $376,000. At that rate, Martin would have to work roughly 24 seasons to make what Harbaugh will be paid in 2016.

Nine coaches’ salaries were not listed because they are employed by private schools that aren’t required to make their pay packages public and choose not to.

Of the 119 that are listed, four from the SEC are among the top 10, led by Alabama’s Nick Saban at $6.94 million, second only to Harbaugh’s compensation.

And while Martin, whose Aggies team plays in the Sun Belt, is the lowest-paid coach on the list, six of the bottom 10 salaries are paid to coaches in the Mid-American Conference.
