The former wrestler-turned-highest-paid-actor is no stranger to charity, similarly donating money to various non-profit organizations. In 2006, the actor founded his own charity, the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation.

The Rock made the announcement on Twitter, posting a video that details how he and Microsoft partnered with the Gamers Outreach Foundation to set up the donations. There are 20 children’s hospitals that will receive custom “ROCK XBOX Series X” consoles, allowing “50,000+ kids” to experience the latest and greatest in gaming. The systems will be distributed over the course of the next year.

Hospitals receiving the new Xbox Series X are:

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Children’s Hospital Colorado Dell Children’s Medical Center Children’s Hospital Orange County St. Louis Children’s Hospital Children’s Wisconsin C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital Franciscan Hospital for Children Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Methodist Children’s Hospital Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s MUSC Children’s Health Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Riley Hospital for Children Seattle Children’s Hospital Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern CA Texas Children’s Hospital UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital UNM Children’s Hospital Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

According to Xbox Wire, the special edition consoles will be placed inside specialized Gamer’s Outreach Karts. Also called ‘GO Karts,’ the units are “portable kiosks built to easily provide recreation to children who are unable to leave their rooms.” The custom Xbox consoles feature The Rock’s Brahma Bull logo, along with his actual signature. Johnson includes a special engraved message that says, “Keep smiling and have fun. Love, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.” Having fun is something The Rock is particularly good at, as can be seen by how he recently handled being late for work.

The  Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S released today, so the timing of the charitable donation makes sense. However, Microsoft is doing even more than the special edition ‘ROCK’ consoles. They also are celebrating the launch of their new console with a live gameplay event and charity drives. However, Johnson is not currently affiliated with those.

Children’s hospitals getting free gaming systems for kids is something positive all around, it seems. Despite the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S launching today, there are diehard Sony fans out there waiting for the PS5. Luckily, Playstation 5 consoles have begun shipping to customers, ready for the official launch later this week.

The Xbox Series X/S are available now.
