Jared Bridegan, 33, was a father of four who worked as a graphic design and user experience manager for Microsoft while based out of Jacksonville, Florida. On February 16, Bridegan was driving home after dropping off his two older children with their mother. At some point in that drive, police say that he noticed a tire on the road and stopped to inspect it.

According to police, as he was getting out of his vehicle, Bridegan was gunned down by an unknown assailant. His two-year-old daughter was in the backseat of the car at the time and witnessed her father’s killing, but was unharmed.

Two months later, Bridegan’s widow, Kirsten Bridegan, told NewsNation she believes his death was a targeted attack instead of a random killing.

“You know, that was his normal route every time he was coming home from dropping off the kids at their mom’s house. And it’s the only spot on that route that does not have cameras directly pointed there. So it’s too specific to be a coincidence,” Kirsten told NewsNation.

Authorities recently released security footage from the Bridegans’ home taken a few days before he was killed. In it, a man unknown to the family was spotted near the bottom of the frame. Due to the blurriness of the video quality, police have been unable to use the footage to identify the man.

“I was putting my daughter to bed, and I got a notification on my watch that said ‘person in the driveway,’” Kirsten told NewsNation. “So after I finished tucking her in, I went and grabbed my phone and clicked on the notification, and it showed me this clip.”

Police are also searching for a truck that was spotted in the area around the time Jared was killed. Police say the truck is a dark blue Ford F-150 with brown trim, a toolbox and running boards. Kirsten said numerous tips about vehicles matching that description have flooded in, but none have led to a break in the case.

Newsweek reached out to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department (JBPD) for comment.

On April 19, Kirsten held a vigil for her husband roughly a mile from where he was gunned down. Speaking to roughly 150 attendees she became overwhelmed with emotion at one point, according to the Florida Times-Union, prompting her two-year-old daughter who witnessed the shooting to walk over and hug her.

Jared’s older brother Adam Bridegan, 36, also spoke at the vigil.

“We want closure. The family lives in fear. There are murderers out in the community and they haven’t been brought to justice. They haven’t come forward and they are living amongst us and we need that closure. We need to be able to sleep at night,” he told supporters at the vigil, according to the Times-Union.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the JBPD at 904-270-1661 or the First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. A private donor helped raise $25,000 of the reward being offered by Crime Stoppers, with the additional $5,000 coming from the local branch of the ATF, according to WJXT-TV.

Kirsten told WJXT that she hope the reward won’t be the “driving factor” for someone to provide information that leads to an arrest.

“But if it is, I hope that this helps. I hope that this leads to more tips. More eyes out there looking for the truck. Or if you hear any whisper of anything from anybody that this will motivate you to call crime stoppers or to call the police,” Kirsten told the tv station.
