The software is showing no signs of slowing down either. A recent report states that Microsoft Flight Simulator will be getting its first commercial passenger jet add-on. A series of YouTube videos show the features that are available in the add-on. The videos also show the level of detail that has gone into it as the player/pilot can be seen doing a full pre-flight check.

The commercial jet in question is the Bombardier CRJ developed by Aerospace. The project manager behind the add-on, Mathijs Kok, recently spoke about how Microsoft’s software has “revitalized” the third party flight simulation development community, saying that creating new content for it has been “exciting.” As a piece of software, Flight Simulator is an extremely impressive and detailed piece of kit, with some comparing its visuals to that of real-world flying.

At the moment, there is no price for the Bombardier CRJ add-on or when it’s likely to be released. In the meantime, developers are looking to bring Flight Simulator to the cloud as well as potentially porting the game over to Xbox Series X|S. Either way, it’s looking like a lot of effort is still being put into it a quarter of a century after first taking to the skies.
