In a post on the game’s official site, Asobo set the minimum spec for Microsoft Flight Simulator as 8GB of RAM, the recommended spec at 16GB of RAM, and the ideal spec at 32GB of RAM. This makes Microsoft Flight Simulator one of the most demanding PC games, on the list with Forza Horizon 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

The game also takes up a lot of space on player hard drives. Microsoft Flight Simulator will use 150GB of space, which also makes it one of the largest games on PC. The game may not use all of that 150GB for its files, but it is how much players will need to have free so that they can play it. Games, apps, and high-quality images typically take up the most space on a computer, and players will want to look for those types of files that they haven’t used in a while if they need to delete something to make more room for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Few fans will be surprised at how much room the game takes up, making it an especially demanding game. Asobo has confirmed that Microsoft Flight Simulator will feature every airport on the planet, from metropolitan areas like New York City to the Juancho e Yrausquin Airport, an airport in the Dutch Caribbean Islands, which has the shortest runway in the world, players will be able to visit them all. No one expected a game with that many runways to have a small file size.

Microsoft Flight Simulator also has incredibly high-quality graphics, which will also take up a lot of room. Viewers have said that Microsoft Flight Simulator’s pre-alpha footage looked great, and while more videos have been released since, it suggests just what sort of a good-looking game that Asobo is developing.

The new game is unlikely to be enjoyed by everyone, and not everyone’s computers will be able to run it. However, with games like this and consoles like the Xbox Series X, Microsoft is leaning hard into the hardcore gaming demographic that will very much like to play something like Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is due to release on Xbox One and PC later this year.
