In a post-E3 recap, on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries studio head Chris Lee provided a bit more clarity into the next steps for Halo Infinite. Unfortunately, the studio plans to go dark for nearly a year with Lee admitting that E3 2020 is going to be a big moment for the game. Until then, the team plans on keeping quiet and continuing development of the game, hardware, and brand new Slipspace Engine that powers the experience.
The blog post also goes into great detail dissecting the E3 2019 trailer, from the visual approach, to the music and narrative direction. Halo Infinite will introduce the highest fidelity version of Master Chief the series has ever seen, thanks in large part to the Slipspace Engine. The design takes the familiar look and color scheme fans remember, while also giving designers and artists the ability to add in even more intricate details and textures previously unavailable to the team at 343.
Even though it was confirmed that Halo Infinite will be a launch title for the upcoming next gen console from Microsoft, called Project Scarlett, fans will still be able to get their hands on the game before the holiday 2020 launch. The blog post wrapped up with a few tidbits of potential beta information from Chris Lee. The team still plans on holding an early flight program to give fans a chance to play the game and provide feedback, which could directly impact the title. There are no details on when, or how, to sign up, but it’s safe to say that fans will likely want to sign up to be a part of the Halo Insider program for a better chance at an invite when the time eventually comes.
