The new details regarding Microsoft’s X018 event came courtesy of Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, who took to Twitter to make a few announcements. Hryb’s weekly online show, Inside Xbox, will be broadcast live from Mexico City for a full 2 hours full of games on Saturday, November 10 at 4 p.m. ET. The Tweet went on to reveal plenty of first-party titles will be on display, including many which came out this year such as Forza Horizon 4, Sea of Thieves, and State of Decay 2....

A Big Security Patch From Microsoft As spotted by ZDNet, Microsoft has posted a list of all the fixes in this Patch Tuesday on Microsoft MSRC. The documentation is a little dense, so it’s a bit hard to pick through it to see what the update fixes. However, the most significant change in this patch is CVE-2022-26925. As we’ve learned today, other sites hosting the Xbox 720 document have been sent takedown notices, including one Czech site who received a notice from a Microsoft internet investigator, seemingly confirming that the document is real and that Microsoft doesn’t want you to see it. The updates comes from The Verge who are relaying that file sharing site Dropbox was forced to remove the document at the request of Microsoft and that over the weekend Czech tech site Ihned....

The espionage kit, allegedly sold by Israeli security outfit Candiru, has been used to target politicians, journalists, human rights workers, academics, dissidents, and more, with at least 100 victims. While 100 is a comparatively low figure to other major security breaches or attacks, the espionage kit is a highly advanced tool used to target individuals. As such, the victims of this kit and the zero-day exploits are likely high-profile individuals with valuable information on potentially seismic topics....

When designing the Xbox One, Microsoft wanted it to be the only console players would ever need, and this led to a lot of ambitious implementations, including the addition of live TV listings by way of a program called OneGuide. Microsoft managed to keep the Surface 3 launch under wraps, so it was a surprise when it was announced at the end of March. Given that the Surface Pro 3 was the first such device we were able to recommend buying, a cheaper version should surely be good news… The Surface Pro 3 is a great feat of engineering, but not everyone needs the power of a Core i7 for browsing the web, sending emails and creating documents in Office 365....

Announced alongside the Surface Pro 9 and the Studio 2+ all-in-one, it’s fair to say that the Laptop 5 is a conservative upgrade, with upgraded Intel processors and Thunderbolt 4 support embedded into a laptop with the same design and displays as last year’s model – and indeed as the year before. Still, even if not much is new, the Surface Laptop 4 was great, and an upgraded take on it sounds like no bad thing....

Until that point, most of those people will have used it for joining pre-arranged calls, with the ability to host a meeting reserved for paid subscribers. What’s Coming to Microsoft Teams? Microsoft made this announcement on its Microsoft 365 Blog. In the post, Microsoft goes into detail as to what’s new to Teams. Firstly, Teams now has a Tasks app. Instead of having to swap between programs all the time, you can now see all of your assigned tasks in one place. The new Tasks app syncs up your jobs from To Do, Planner, and Outlook so you don’t need to leave Teams to see what needs to be done....

The advisory was posted on the Microsoft Security Response Center’s (MSRC) website, which is Mircosoft’s cybersecurity team that strives to protect users from threat actors and attacks. The vulnerability has been dubbed CVE-2021-40444, and it’s being described as a hole in MSHTML, which is the browser engine behind Internet Explorer. What threat actors do is create a Microsoft Office document that houses a malicious ActiveX control. ActiveX controls are small bits of software that allow websites to provide content on Internet Explorer....

According to a report from Windows Central, the laptop is codenamed Sparti and is designed to appeal to a student audience. This often is as representative of a laptop’s price as its features, so we can hopefully look forward to a more affordable Surface laptop. We aren’t capitalising ‘laptop’ here, but the Microsoft Surface Laptop (capitalised) is a product, and the report says the new laptop “is being positioned as a more affordable Surface Laptop”, likening its price and features to how the cheaper and smaller Surface Go sits alongside the Surface Pro in Microsoft’s range....

On Tuesday, the City of Detroit announced that the Lewis College of Business will reopen its doors for students in December. The HBCU, which closed its doors in 2013 will be reopened by former Nike and Air Jordan designer Dr. D’Wayne Edwards. Edwards has already gained support for the reopening of the school from Target, Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and the Gilbert Family Foundation. Edwards is the founder of PENSOLE, a footwear design academy in Portland, Oregon....
